Over the years I have worked in mental health, I have had the privilege of learning from so many of my clients. I have extensive experience with active duty military, veterans, first responders, and many other individuals struggling with mental health concerns associated with substance abuse or some other diagnosis or situation.
My experience has blessed me with the ability to work with a broad and diverse population, including not only those mentioned above, but also individuals who struggle with bipolar disorder, personality disorders, and a wide range of traumas.
I have worked in the mental health field since 2019, first as a case coordinator for a counties-wide community mental health organization, then later as a substance abuse counselor (LCDC-I) for a long-standing facility in the Texas Hill Country. While there, I was promoted to Manager of Clinical Services, assisting the next generation of chemical dependency counselors and advocating for clients’ rights. I also became the director for their Christian program, for which I developed my own curriculum and program structure.
Looking to gain more experience, I moved to another treatment facility in the Hill Country. During this time, I also began working as an independent LPC under the umbrella of another group practice. While my time with each organization provided me with extensive experience, I was also saddened to see how clients are often viewed (and treated) only as numbers, not as people, with little effort given to actually improving their well-being.
I launched Novus Psychotherapy to ensure access to care that is not only truly trauma-informed but where clients are valued. My experience has taught me how to better support you, not only as a therapist but also as a therapy organization. I am currently pursuing my Ph.D. in psychology so I can continue to learn, grow, and improve how I support my clients.
My job is to come alongside and assist you in developing new insight into your experiences and help you overcome obstacles that are keeping you from obtaining your goals. As a Certified Trauma Professional, I use tools such as EMDR, CBT, DBT, and other modalities to work with you to find what fits your specific needs so you can begin living your best life. While this process may be difficult, you have already shown courage in just in beginning this journey.
If you are seeking assistance with the struggles of daily life, want to grow in your relationships, or want to overcome situations from your past, I would love to see if we are a good fit. Let’s get you moving from surviving to thriving!
